REM's Michael Stipe has become involved in a film based on Barry Manilow's songbook.

Stipe's production company, Single Cell Pictures, has bought the rights to a story that reportedly involves a number of Manilow fans making their way across the US to see him perform in Las Vegas. Manilow's music will be used throughout the film, and he's also set to make an appearance as himself.
