The Saturday Profile of Commissioner Patrick Culligan on May 18th stated that "his transfer to Mayo after a complaint by the then Taoiseach's son, Mark FitzGerald, that his car had been stolen outside his father's house which was in Culligan's division was seen as scapegoating by other gardai".
We now accept that no complaint was ever made, directly or indirectly, about Mr Culligan by Mr Mark FitzGerald and any such inference is regretted.
