In a report headed "Central Bank's powers at issue, says TD" in last Saturday's editions, Mr Derek McDowell TD was quoted as saying, in relation to the Central Bank's power to disclose information if the bank concerned waived its right to confidentiality, "This is exactly what happened in the case of ICC and Guinness Mahon in relation to the Ansbacher accounts".
Mr McDowell wishes to clarify that the reference to ICC should have been to IIB, Irish Intercontinental Bank.
A report headed "Irish Life seeks growth outside traditional areas" in Business This Week 1 on March 20th referred to the effect on profits of a "strike". This should have been more properly described as a "dispute".
Where errors occur it is the policy of The Irish Times to correct or clarify as soon as practicable.
