The contents of Gerardstown House, near Dunshaughlin, Co Meath, go on show this morning, with viewing today until 5 p.m. and tomorrow from noon to 5 p.m. Viewers are advised to get in early as Hamilton Osborne King expect very big numbers to pass through the house in advance of Monday's auction. Over 700 lots will be auctioned and the vast majority of the items are from the house, which was home to the late horsetrainer Patricia Hanson. The most interesting furniture lots were highlighted in last Saturday's antiques column. However, fine furniture apart, this is bound to be a lively auction with many pieces to suit all pockets. Hunting prints and foxes heads and brushes, boxes of kitchenware, old hats, costume jewellery and handbags, collections of cigarette boxes and lights, books and bric-a-brac will keep browsers happy for hours. The house has a comfortable charm that only old horsey money could have bought. Well worth a view.
