A VERY handsome mahogany three-door bookcase, which dates from the turn of the century and is in the Chippendale style, went for £7,200 at Monday's fine art and furniture auction conducted by Mullen's of Laurel Park. This was the best price of the evening sale, which netted just over £200,000 in total.
Other good sellers included a set of 12 early Victorian mahogany dining chairs (£5,000); a Victorian walnut and marquetry card table, which went over its top estimate of £3,500 to make £4,800; and a pair of Georgian revival mahogany chests, which were expected to go for £2,200-£2,800 but sold for £4,600.
