A big hooray for Tomm Moore andl the folks at Cartoon Saloon. The Kilkenny animators were celebrating last weekend following the announcement that The Secret of Kells, their visually impressive animated feature, had taken the audience prize at the Edinburgh Film Festival.

Others rejoicing included Katie Jarvis, who won the best performance in a British feature for her turn in Andrea Arnold's Fish Tank, and Kyle Patrick Alvarez, whose Easier with Practicepicked up the award for best new international feature. An interview with Duncan Jones, whose Moonran away with best new British feature gong, will soon appear in these pages.
