Irish Georgian table fetches £6,000
An Irish Georgian serving table, 7 ft long, sold for £6,000 at Herman & Wilkinson's recent antiques auction, where a Victorian extending table with five loose leaves fetched £5,000 and a composite set of 15 Victorian dining chairs £2,300. A Victorian burr walnut folding card table made £1,550, a Georgian scroll-end sofa £1,200, a Victorian double pedestal desk £1,020 and a 19th century cross-banded mahogany sofa table £1,000.
£2,700 paid for mahogany side cabinet
A total of £53,000 (including premium) was made at Hamilton Osborne King's fine art auction in Blackrock, Co Dublin, last Wednesday, when an Irish mahogany side cabinet dating from circa 1830 sold for £2,700 and a flame mahogany sideboard dating from approximately a decade later for £1,500. Other prices achieved at this auction include: £1,100 for a mahogany pedestal dressing chest, circa 1900; £1,050 for a mid-19th century mahogany sideboard; £1,000 for a Bluthner ebonised boudoir grand piano; and £750 for a mid-19th century mahogany three-tier dumb waiter.
