Temple Bar renews its acquaintance with a wealth of traditional musicians, singers and dancers for its fifth TradFest. This year's programme includes a trio of young bands – Líadan, Beoga and Téada – all of whom have a reputation for tight and inventive arrangements. As well as a compelling photographic exhibition by flute player, historian, writer and photographer Mick O'Connor ( Traditional Music in Dublin), a revered trio of musicians – Matt Molloy, John Carty and Arty McGlynn – will gather up an eclectic set-list for their headline concert at the Button Factory, supported by Leitrim singer Mary McPartlan, American harmonica player and singer Rick Epping, and guitarist Aidan Brennan.
Clare concertina master Noel Hill and fiddle player Tony Linnane will revive their famed partnership, originally minted on their seminal 1979 debut recording. The Kilfenora Céilí Band will raise pulses and temperatures for a Sunday afternoon céilí, so dancing shoes and eardrums will be on high alert for the five-day event.
