Striking craftworkers at the Airmotive plant in Rathcoole, Co Dublin, are to meet on Tuesday to consider the Labour Court's settlement proposals for their month long strike. The company says that a continuation of the strike by 81 craftworkers could mean the closure of the jet engine repair plant with the loss of all 433 jobs.
Management and craft unions met at the Labour Court yesterday over a 10 per cent pay claim. The craftworkers claim they are entitled to the money because of extra qualifications acquired to operate to new international aviation engineering standards.
The company says the qualification is already taken account of in their pay. The craftworkers' claim has twice been rejected by the Labour Court.
