A book of beauty

ANOTHER Irish cultural institution has won high praise abroad

ANOTHER Irish cultural institution has won high praise abroad. Arts Minister Michael D Higgins will tonight launch Mughal and Other Indian Paintings from the Chester Beatty Library by Linda York Leech, a marvellous (and expensive) book which has had specialist English and American critics reaching for superlatives. "It will stand as a model of its kind, and has been beautifully served by the publishers, Scorpion Cavendish," says The Arts Newspaper. "A perfect balance between sound attribution, lively but accurate historical writing, and aesthetic appreciativeness. . . masterfully conceived, generously illustrated", says Stuart Carey Walsh of Harvard University.
