There are around 850 lots in next Tuesday's auction being conducted by John Dunphy on his premises at Sixmilebridge, Co Clare. These include a carved mahogany Edwardian display cabinet and a set of 12 Louis XVI-style giltwood fauteuils, both of them sharing the same pre-sale estimate of £2,000-£3,000.
Two Victorian mahogany sideboards, one of them bow-ended, are expected to make £1,000-£1,500 each, as is a set of six Edwardian dining chairs by James Hicks. A Victorian rosewood card-table should fetch £800-£1,200 and a pair of giltwood armchairs is expected to realise £700-£1,000. The year's first Kildare Street auction at the James Adam salerooms in Dublin on Tuesday offers the usual wide range of affordable items. These include some 50 lots of silver and silver plate with estimates between £5 and £80, two 19th century Irish decanters expected to make £80-£100 and a wide selection of furniture none of which ought to make over £500.
