The Peggy Bawn, a yacht made in Carrickfergus in 1894, sold for £3,500 at Monday's all day auction by Mullen's of Laurel Park, Co Dublin. That price was matched by a pair of bronze torcheres, each in the form of a scantily clad woman, while an art deco style veneered writing desk went for £2,100.
Other top prices included £1,825 for an early 19th century mahogany sofa table, £1,550 for a walnut breakfront bookcase and £1,250 for both a set of eight Victorian balloon back mahogany dining chairs and a majolica game dish. The last of these was the surprise of the day as it carried an estimate of only £300-£400.
