Computer Products in Youghal has entered into a multi million dollar strategic alliance with Alcatel Telecom. The agreement with the largest communications equipment manufacturer in the world would mean major capital investment and expansion for the Youghal site in 1997.

The US based head office of Computer Products also yesterday reported an 84 per cent increase in net income to £5.2 million for the six months to June 28th.

Worldwide sales increased by 11.5 per cent to £64 million, while European sales rose by 18.5 per cent to £19 million.

The company produces electronic power conversion products for the telecommunications and networking industries. It employs 380 people at its European headquarters in Youghal.
