Frankfurt Dax: 2700 (+8.14)
The German IBIS DAX index ended afternoon electronic dealings on yesterday just above the psychologically important level of 2,700 points, lifted by strength on Wall Street.
The IBIS DAX, which reflects all day computer dealings in the DAX index of 30 blue chip stocks, ended up after the Dow Jones surged in its early dealings.
Paris CAC-40: 2143.62 (-3.5)
French shares closed slightly lower in quiet trade yesterday as the market continued its consolidation above the 2,100 level for the blue chip index with some uneasiness about Thursday's public sector strike.

Italian shares trod water throughout a limp, technical session yesterday, ending off their lows after a late boost from Wall Street. "New York probably acted as a parachute but volume is still very thin," said one trader.
