German shares ended slightly lower, weighed down by a weaker dollar, with dealers saying the market was consolidating following the record breaking run of recent weeks. The IBIS DAX, which reflects all day dealings in the DAX index of 30 leading shares, received a late afternoon boost when Wall Street surged ahead to touch new record highs. The IBIS DAX ended up 6.11 points at 2733.67.

Paris CAC-40: 2180.22 (-5.01)

French shares closed slightly easier, ignoring fresh gains on Wall Street on some profit taking after Friday's two and a half year closing high. On the ninth anniversary of the 1987 Black Monday crash, French dealers said the market's fundamentals were sound but the settlement of the October account on Thursday was spurring profit taking.
