Sick of the earphones of your iPod/phone/MP3 player getting tangled up and breaking? So was transition-year student Stephen O’Callaghan before he designed a plastic key-ring device to solve the problem.

O’Callaghan, a student in Carlow Presentation College, was the winner of the Student Enterprise Award with his device, which has two slots for the earphones with the cord simply wrapping around a grove in the keyring.

The “Rap IT” team are now in negotiations with several telecommunications companies.
