Louisiana-Pacific, the US building products company with a 65 per cent stake in a Co Kilkenny wood panel manufacturing facility, announced yesterday that it would close a sawmill and wood treating facility in Lockhart, Alabama, in February.

Its £45 million plant at Slieverue, Co Kilkenny, is 35 per cent owned by Coillte, the State forestry company.
