Tuskar Resources is to commence testing the Obe-4 oil well offshore Nigeria following the completion of drilling. The tests, said Tuskar, would commence in the next few days to determine the well's production capability after which it is expected to be temporarily suspended as an oil producer. Planning for commercial production facilities is at an advanced stage with final decisions to be made following completion of the current well testing, according to Tuskar. Drilling on the second development well, Obe-5, is planned for later this year. Obe-4 was drilled to a depth of 9,315 feet and has been spudded.
Tuskar has noted that the latest drilling followed the evaluation of 60 sq m km of 3D seismic data. The Obe oil field is located in shallow water and covers 240,000 acres.
