Hasbro Ireland Limited, which has a manufacturing plant at Waterford, saw revenues fall 23 per cent to €17.2 million, according to accounts just filed at the Companies Office. Its pretax profit was €909,000 during the period ending December 26th, 2010, down from €1.49 million.

The company, based in Waterford since 1977, employed an average of 243 people in 2010, down from 272 the previous year. The number of employees at Hasbro Ireland has fallen sharply in recent years.

Its parent company is toy giant Hasbro Inc, the maker of Monopoly, Connect 4, Battleship and Jenga, as well as toys such as My Little Pony, Play-Doh, Beyblade spinning tops and Playskool. Its net revenues in the second quarter of 2011 grew 23 per cent.
