Two sets of French and Canadian twins got married in southern France at the weekend after meeting and falling in love on the Internet.

Joelle and Florence (37) left a message on a French twins' Web site last August. Guy and Gilles (36), originally from Quebec but living in Columbia, South Carolina, replied and within weeks the four were bombarding each other with email.

After meeting in the flesh in February, they decided to get married, tying the knot on Saturday, in the small village of Lablachere. French media said they would hold a similar service in Montreal next week. "It's important to have married twins because I often live with my brother and if you marry with just one woman then it's not the same," Guy told Le Journal du Dimanche.
