BMW dealer Murphy and Gunn sees revenues increase to €49m

Dublin-based car dealer Murphy and Gunn saw turnover rise to €49 million in 2014 from €41.8 million a year earlier as it benefited from a recovery in the economy.

However, the family-run business, which runs authorised BMW and Hyundai dealerships in Milltown and Rathgar, said costs of sales also increased, jumping from €37 million to €44 million last year.

The company reported a pretax profit of €30,549 as against €25,230 in 2013.

Founded in 1960, the company, which employs over 70 people, is also authorised repairers for Lexus and Toyota.

Directors Thomas and Stephen Murphy said the progress made by the firm during 2013 was maintained last year with an expectation that the group would benefit from an overall improvement in the sector.

The group said it had stocks, which include cars and parts,totalling €7.68 million, up from €5 million a year earlier.

Trade debtors rose to €484,697 last year, up from €275,079 in 2013.

Administrative expenses totalled €5.56 million last year, compared to €5 million in 2013 with wages and salaries rising from €1.93 million to €2.15 million.
