The scope of work in Qatar includes full site development of the main fuel truck distribution point for the Laffan Refinery Tank Farm, the installation of interconnecting pipelines between the tank farm, loading facility and the Ras Laffan jetty.

Kentz will be responsible for process design, storage facilities, custody metering and loading facilities on a turnkey basis. The project is scheduled for completion in 2011.

On completion, the facility will be handed over to Qatar Fuel (Woqod), which will operate and maintain the facility and service its domestic customer base.

“The award of this EPC package reflects the confidence that this major client has in Kentz’s ability to deliver critical and complex projects. We have mobilised our project team and look forward to carrying out another successful project for Qatar Petroleum and their partners in Qatar,” said Dr Hugh O’Donnell, chief executive of Kentz in a statement.

Kentz has 4,000 employees in Qatar, servicing contracts for Qatar Petroleum, Shell, Qatar Foundation, Qatargas, JGC-KBR JV, Linde, Chevron-Philips, RasGas, Technip and Fluor.

Tipperary-based Kentz floated on London’s Alternative Investment Market early last year. The group specialises in servicing industries such as oil and gas drilling and refining, mining and pharmaceuticals.
