The small business lobby group, ISME, announced in conjunction with the ESB yesterday the launch of a telephone helpline to assist members in reaching Year 2000 computer compliance. Comspec, a Dublin-based specialist software company, will co-ordinate and staff the helpline which will advice to ISME members on carrying out the process on their systems. Mr Frank Mulcahy, ISME's director of communications, said that the initiative would help to reduce firms' costs of upgrading software systems, estimated at being 2 per cent of turnover.
