Mr Ted MacRedmond, the chairman and chief executive of the Aon MacDonagh Boland Group has died suddenly in Dublin. A popular figure in the insurance sector, Mr MacRedmond was a former chairman of ICC Bank. He also served on the board of Aer Lingus.
Born in Limerick in 1933, Mr MacRedmond started his working life with the Norwich Union insurance group before moving into insurance broking when he set up Crotty MacRedmond with Mr Jim Crotty. After a series of mergers and acquisitions, Mr MacRedmond become the chairman and chief executive of Aon McDonagh Boland, the largest general insurance broker in the Republic.
