INSTALL: Vimeo app to manage  videos on your iPhone

The lack of Adobe Flash support on the iPhone limited its online video capability, but first YouTube and then Vimeo addressed the issue by offering HTML5 video support. Now Vimeo follows that with a native iOS app which allows you to upload, edit, manage and watch your videos right from your iPhone.

What’s more, its basic video editing tool is quite powerful, allowing you to edit and combine your videos, adding features such as titles, effects, music and transitions.

If Vimeo’s iPhone app has signalled its intent to be the service of choice for those creating video, YouTube this week upped the stakes. Fifty years after Yuri Gagarin’s first manned space flight, YouTube has premiered First Orbit, a feature-length documentary about the successful Russian mission.

Using footage shot from the International Space Station, historic footage and voice recordings, First Orbit is presented in real time to recreate what Gagarin might have experienced as the world’s first spaceman.
