Sony Xperia Go

If you are less than careful with your mobile phone, the Sony Xperia Go may be just what you need. It is water resistant, dust resistant and comes with a scratch-resistant display, but despite all this it doesn’t look like a small brick. In fact, it’s reasonably lightweight, even in comparison to some regular smartphones on the market. Its 3.5in display also has wet-finger tracking. It comes in two colours – black or white –

and, although it starts off with the Gingerbread operating system, the Android phone can be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich.

Lumberjacket

From €33

Make your MacBook stand out from the crowd with a Lumberjacket. As the name suggests, the protective skins are wooden, made from a choice of bamboo, walnut or oak, and will fit the 13in or 15in MacBook and the 11in or 13in MacBook Air. The covers can even be customised with your initials cut out right over the Apple logo. The laser-cut skins also leave space for all the important jacks, ports and speakers you need access to, giving your MacBook a new look without compromising its functions.

Blink(1)

$30

Indicator lights: so simple, and yet so useful. Now a Kickstarter project is offering a small USB light that will show you at a glance what is happening on your computer. Say, for example, you want to know about activity on Skype without all the annoying pop-ups. Or you want to keep an eye on network speed when you’re online. How about if you want to be notified if a particular Twitter account becomes active? It’s all possible with the Blink(1) and a little know-how. Its tools are open source, so you can set it to notify you of almost anything you want.
