SKLZ Gyro Swing Training Club, €179

Apparently popular with the likes of Pádraig Harrington, Vijay Singh and Lucas Glover, it’s got a 20,000rpm gyroscope in its head that helps you improve your distance and accuracy, and maybe cure that slice issue that’s been plaguing your game. It even shows you where best to grip the club. Just don’t hit a real golf ball with it.

Dyson DC39, from €399

Like death and taxes, domestic duties are an inevitable part of life you just can’t avoid. So you may as well make life easier for yourself when you’re tackling some of the less appealing jobs by stocking up on good equipment. The Dyson Ball cylinder vacuum cleaner has been designed to make it easier to manoeuvre, so you aren’t dragging it along behind you, crashing into the furniture as you go.

In fact, everything about this vacuum cleaner seems to have been designed with ease of use in mind. The multifloor attachment automatically adapts according to your floor type.

Emptying it is done with a single button push, which means no bags to mess about with. And it’s even quieter than you’d expect. We wouldn’t quite go as far as to say it makes vacuuming fun, but it certainly makes it a lot easier.

iRig Mix, €74.99

Those clever people at IK Multimedia have come up with the perfect accessory for Apple-toting DJs, aspiring or established.

The iRig Mix is a compact mixing desk that packs in all the functions you need – EQ, crossfaders, volume controls – and can take two separate audio inputs at once.

It’s compatible with any iOS device – that would be your iPhone, iPod or iPad – and will also hook up to other audio sources, such as digital music players or CDs, so your possibilities are endless.

You can mix music from your CD collection, for example, with your iPod, and the automatic tempo matching and beat syncing means even a total beginner can make a half-decent stab at it.

All you have to do is choose your music and your favourite DJ app in order to get started.

If you can’t decide, iRig has helpfully included four of them free of charge.
