FOLLOWING ITS acquisition of Dublin technology firm KeepItSafe, Nasdaq-quoted J2 Global Communications has announced a €640,000 investment in its Irish operations which will create 10 new jobs.
The €640,000 investment in data storage facilities includes a €350,000 deal for additional infrastructure with data centre operator Data Electronics.
“The expansion from an infrastructure perspective is to support the growth of our cloud services,” said Paul Kinsella, general manager, Europe, with J2 Global.
He said the additional jobs, which are being created across a range of disciplines, are to “service and support business expansion” across Europe.
Established in 1995, J2 Global provides fax, voice and e-mail services over the internet under brand names such as eFax, eReceptionist, Campaigner, FuseMail, and Onebox.
The company generated revenues of $255.4 million (€174.4 million) last year and has said it expects revenues this year to range between $320 and $340 million
“J2 Global Communications’ decision to choose an Irish data centre is in line with a multitude of global brands that already have data centre operations in Dublin, which is a hugely positive indication for Ireland’s future,” said Maurice Mortell, chief executive of Data Electronics.
J2 Global Ireland currently employs 60 staff in Ireland, primarily at a multilingual sales and service centre in Dublin and a development group in Galway.
The US firm acquired KeepItSafe, which was founded in 2003 and had over 1,500 clients, in October last year. However , financial details of the purchase were not disclosed.
