Augmented reality scavenger hunt
A smartphone game developed in Ireland to promote the launch of a new bar in Dublin has begun a scavenger hunt around the city. Copan, an augmented reality treasure hunt, began on December 12th and will run until Sunday.
The game, which was created to celebrate the launch of €5 million cafe bar Copan in Rathmines, offers players the chance to hunt down points and prizes, including laptops, iPads and TVs, around the city using the app.
Avego raises $5.6m funding
Technology firm Avego has raised $5.6 million in venture capital funding.
The company, which specialises in providing software and hardware that improves the efficiency of passenger transportation, is best known for its car-pooling application, Avego Shared Transport, and management system Futurefleet.
Avego, which was founded in 2007, has experienced rapid growth after first releasing its products commercially in 2009.
Avego’s real-time information systems combine GPS devices, mobile phones and internet technologies to make seat capacity known and available to passengers, provide convenient ticket purchasing options, and enable extensive reporting capabilities for transportation providers.
The funding round was led by SOSventures.
Zutec recruits on back of expansion
Irish-based web solutions firm Zutec has created seven new positions at its Irish and MIddle Eastern offices.
The company, which targets the building and asset management industries, is seeking two software developers for its Dublin headquarters and five engineers at its Doha office in Qatar.
Zutec said the jobs were created due to its expansion. The company has won important projects in the Middle East and Australia recently.
