CIARA O'BRIENrounds-up this week's gadgets
Seecode Vossor Phonebook (€139-€149)
Bluetooth car kits are a common sight, but if you would rather not drill holes in your shiny dashboard, try the Seecode Vossor Phonebook. The device looks (and actually is) a rear view mirror. The difference is that it has Bluetooth built in and a microphone and speaker for making calls. It will also store up to 600 numbers in its memory.
The device is simple enough to install yourself. You simply slot it over your existing car mirror, pair it with your phone and you are ready to go. A mini display in the centre of the mirror – almost invisible while it’s not in use – will light up when a call comes in to tell you who is demanding your attention. It has 10 hours of talk time and 500 hours of standby from a single charge and, if you need to charge it on the go, a portable in-car charger is included.

Altec Lansing Expressionist Plus (€99.95)
Bring a touch of style to your desktop with the Altec Lansing Expressionist Plus PC speakers. A set that could be proudly displayed in your living room, the glossy speakers not only look quietly sophisticated, but they also deliver some pretty decent audio, despite their diminutive size. You get two speakers and a subwoofer, which use something called Audio Alignment Technology to make sure the sound produced is as natural as possible.
Perfect if desk area is at a premium, the 2in speakers can be adjusted to suit your space. Volume controls are handily located on one of the speakers, so there’ll be no fumbling about should you choose to put the subwoofer under the desk.
The speakers aren’t limited to just your PC though; you could hook up your iPod or any MP3, CD or DVD player you like.
