Kodak Playsport €152

High-definition footage has just become a lot easier to capture with the Kodak Playsport camera. The pocket sized device is rechargeable – conveniently by USB – and has been kitted out so it is slightly more rugged than your average camera. Waterproof up to three metres, it comes with rubber casing that will take a few knocks, and the image stabilisation technology will do its best to correct your shaky footage. The camera shoots in 1080p HD, but also has a 720 mode and will even capture stills at 5 megapixel resolution. The software is built-in and the footage is recorded to removable SD cards, although it comes with 128mb of internal memory too. A single charge will give you two hours of shooting time and you are limited only by the number of cards you can carry.

Samsung C9000 LED TV

Price not available

3D televisions are picking up momentum, with Samsung unveiling a super-slim model that will be in stores in July. The C9000 is a 3D LED TV. This means it not only has the 3D technology built in, it also has all the benefits of LED TVs, including great picture, low power consumption and, for those who see size as a crucial factor, an impossibly slim profile. The TV is less than 8mm deep – pretty thin, no matter what way you think about it. It is compatible with BluRay 3D and Samsung is promising that its 3D processor will be able to use an auto-conversion technology that renders 2D content into 3D in real time. Samsung also plans to support content and applications, including Skype, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr. http://www.samsung.com/ie/

Philips Fidelio Docking Speaker DS1100

€89

An iPod dock that also works as an alarm clock, the Philips Fidelio Docking Speaker DS1100 is a compact yet powerful sound system. There is a lot of jargon being thrown around about the circular speaker, but all you really need to know is that it is omni- directional, it gives great sound for its size and you can download an app from the App Store to turn it into an alarm clock.

It automatically syncs with your device’s time settings and volume.

The clock on the front of the device can be dimmed – perfect for night use – and a USB port allows you to charge a second device while your iPhone or iPod is quietly powering up in the Fidelio. It is portable enough to take away with you, although it requires access to a power outlet.
