A Waterford building company which made a settlement of just under £1.8 million (€2.3 million) is one of 55 settlements for £4.9 million published in the latest issue of Iris Oifigi·il and is thought to be the largest published in the journal in recent years. Company principal Mr Noel Frisby also made a settlement of £128,341 in undeclared income tax.

The latest list includes six cases of settlements arising from the Revenue's National Irish Bank (NIB) inquiry and involve a hotel firm, a building firm, two publicans and their business, and a company director. The total involved exceeds £600,000.

Apart from Waterford's Pineview Construction and Mr Frisby there were seven settlements for six-figure sums.

Queens Hotel, Abbey Street, Ennis, Co Clare settled for £397,498 following a Revenue audit. The settlement involved corporation tax, VAT and PAYE, and included interest and penalties.

PC Boyd builders of Patrick Street, Tullamore, Co Offaly, paid £282,405 in a similar case but arising out of the NIB inquiry. Joseph Murphy & Co, (Tuam) Ltd, a building firm, Mill House, Henry Street, Limerick, paid £236,939 in a case involving similar taxes.

Higgins Builders (Portarlington), 12 Patrick Street, Portarlington, Co Offaly, made a settlement of £204,885. Fallmor Ltd, Castle Street, Roscommon, made a settlement of £164,658, in a case which formed part of the NIB inquiry.

Other settlements arising from the NIB inquiry were: Mr Godfrey Gibbons, publican, of Society Street, Ballinasloe, Co Galway, £38,716, in income tax, interest and penalties; Mr Raymond Gibbons, of the same address, £38,477 in income tax, interest and penalties; and Raymond and Godfrey Gibbons, same address, £39,217, in VAT, interest and penalties. Midland Radio Group, of Minard House, Sligo Road, Longford, paid £89,009 arising from the underdeclaration of VAT and PAYE.
