AUSTRIA snatched an undeserved victory over European Championship finalists Switzerland in a friendly in Vienna last night.

Substitute Andi Ogris drove home a close range shot in the 73rd minute after Heimo Pfeifenbger had broken away from the Swiss defence to cross from the right.

The goal, against the run of play in a match dominated by a Swiss team badly disrupted by injury, gave the Austrians their first victory over Switzerland since 1978.

Switzerland had controlled the game from early in the first half, and had twice the number of shots on target iii an often scrappy match.
