THE Dutch industrial systems group Stork is to pay 302.5 million guilders (£112 million) for the Fokker Aviation unit of bankrupt aircraft maker Fokker.
The aviation unit includes the viable maintenance and special products subsidiaries but not the core aircraft manufacturing business on which the Shorts factory "in Belfast is dependent for a large portion of its business.
Stork said it would finance the takeover from its own resources. It would boost its annual turnover by about 12 per cent to five billion guilders.
Fokker Aviation currently has an annual turnover of about 600 million guilders, which is expected to grow to 800 million in the period 1997-1998.
Stork repeated last month's expectation that Fokker Aviation would make a contribution to its earnings per share in 1996.
"From 1997, this (profit) contribution will comply with the Stork standards of a pretax profit of at least 5 per cent (of turnover) and a return on shareholders' equity of 15 per cent," the industrial systems and services group said.
