Sport:THE RETURN of financial services and automotive industry sponsors alongside expansion in emerging markets will help push global revenues from sport to €110 billion by 2015, according to figures from PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The multinational accountancy and consultancy practice published its sports outlook yesterday showing that revenues from sport will grow at 3.7 per cent a year to 2015, when the firm estimates that they will come to $145.3 billion (€110 billion).

Julie Clark, head of the firm’s sports practice, said that a number of factors are driving sports revenues, economic growth, especially in emerging market, events such as this year’s Olympic Games in London and media rights, which are broadened out to include multimedia.

The Europe, Middle East and Africa region is the second largest region, with a €42.8 billion slice of the revenue cake. However, it will see the slowest growth, which partly reflects underlying economic problems. North America will remain the biggest market.
