DR Eddie O'Connor's settlement package agreed with the Government on his resignation last Friday comprised:
. Pension benefits and lump sum payment valued at £290,000 for his previous service with ESB and Bord na Mona.
. An additional 10 years' benefits and lump sum payment valued at £424,000.
. A cash payment of £148,000 made up of a severance payment, a £12,000 bonus for last year, his agreed VHI contribution and a £60,000 contribution towards his legal costs of £100,000.
. Dr O'Connor does not have to repay money the board contends he owes, including £66,000 in unvouched expenses. Nor will he have to repay any tax penalties incurred by the company in relation to his remuneration package.
In return, Dr O'Connor has given up any claim in respect of a bond paid by the company which would have paid him £90,000 after 10 years' service or gone to his dependants in the event of his death in service.
The package was confidential, but according to the Secretary of the Department of Energy, Mr John Loughrey, this did not apply to the Houses of the Oireachtas.
