Seafield, the British-based Irish-registered transport company, has landed a major contract with Unilever subsidiary Van den Bergh Foods to build and operate a state-of-the-art distribution centre in Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
It is planned that a custom-built warehouse of 165,000 sq ft will be constructed on a nine-acre site at High Grounds, Worksop, and be operational by November 1999. Seafield is investing £5.5 million (€6.68 million) in the project.
The new facility, located near the A1 and M1 motorways, will operate as a distribution centre for northern Britain and will initially employ 65 people.
"It is a very significant development," said Seafield chairman Mr Jonathan Glanz.
