THE president of the European Commission, Mr Jacques Santer, will give the keynote address at the 10th annual European Finance Convention in Dublin today. Mr Santer will speak on European Monetary Union.

The convention will take place over five days in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin and is sponsored by The Irish Times. Topics to be covered include the single currency debate, north/ south co operation and the impact of regional policies.

A session on the practical implications of EMU will be addressed by Bundesbank council member Mr Frans Christopher Zeitler while the chairman of the Association for the Monetary Union of Europe Mr Etienne Davignon will explain what will change under EMU.
