A GROUP of business people from Coleraine have said they will fight on in their attempt to prevent the retail giant, Sainsbury, from overturning a court ruling that planning permission for its proposed new store on the outskirts of the town was unlawfully granted.
The court ruled that the Department of the Environment should have carried out a retail impact assessment before granting full planning permission last January. The result of Sainsbury's appeal is expected to be announced tomorrow.
Local businessman, Mr Stanley White, says he will continue to oppose Sainsbury's plan.
"The evidence is clear, from every part of Europe, of the damage which out of town and edge of town shopping centres are causing to the fabric of our towns and cities."
