Radio listenership rankings in Dublin remain more or less the same, according to the latest JNLR figures published by the MRBI. During the six-month period from October 1999 to March 2000, all but 3 per cent of radio listeners in Co Dublin tuned in to one of the six main stations. In the "listened yesterday" breakdown, RTE Radio 1 still has the largest share, unchanged from the previous level of 34 per cent.
Of the music stations, FM104 remains in the number one position, although it slipped 2 per cent on audience share to 27 per cent. 98FM saw a sharper drop of 4 per cent, down to 207,000 listeners, and 2FM crept up 1 per cent to attract 170,000. Today FM broke the psychological 100,000 barrier and now has a 12 per cent market share, up two percentage points. The classical music newcomer, Lyric FM, made a strong debut, with 52,000 listeners or 6 per cent audience share.
