Deregulation of directory inquiries comes into full force today and the 1190 number no longer functions.

Eircom (see left) and Conduit have been running campaigns for their directory inquiries numbers, and last night Conduit introduced the first of five TV adverts. Conduit's £300,000 (€381,194) campaign does not concentrate on the price differential between the two competitors. From June 9th, Eircom's 11811 will cost 38p plus VAT, while Conduit's 11850 costs 27p per call, also plus VAT.
