THE US-headquartered legal firm Axiom is to open a new office in Belfast that could create more than 100 jobs within two years, the North’s Minister for Enterprise has announced.
Arlene Foster said Axiom’s new “centre of excellence” would employ lawyers and paralegals and pay salaries “significantly above” Northern Ireland’s average industry wage.
Axiom claims to be one of the fastest growing providers of “managed services to the general counsel and in-house legal departments” of Fortune 500/FTSE 100 companies.
Ms Foster has estimated that once it is fully operational Axiom’s Belfast centre could deliver a £4 million boost to the North’s economy in terms of annual salaries.
The group, which employs 800 people worldwide, will receive £1.6 million from the regional economic development agency Invest NI and the North’s Department of Employment and Learning to support the new investment.
