Demand for electricity reached an all-time high last Monday, the ESB's Independent Transmission division said yesterday.
It said demand reached 3,925 megawatts (NW) at 5.45 p.m. on that day, and was met by dispatching 18 power stations throughout the State and other capacity.
The State electricity company commissioned new generation of 150 MW last year at Poolbeg, Dublin, and imported five interim plants capable of generating more than 110 MW.
