STILL with the advertising profession, the Margin takes his hat off to the advertising agencies which rose to the challenge from IT magazine to design advertisements to sell the impossible. A pitch for bluebottles made much of their "natural buzz", while a pitch for "loneliness" pointed out that it is "cheap, long-lasting and convenient... and because time drags when you're not, enjoying yourself, loneliness is longer lasting".
The Margin's prize, however, goes to the advertisement for holy water: "The one, the only, the original Virgin Water. . ." and then, (above a picture of Richard Branson) ..... sorry Dick".
