The breaking news service has a team of five full-time journalists. Plans are in train to expand this complement over the coming months to broaden the range and depth of the fast-paced coverage. The service will shortly operate on a 24-hour basis.

Ms Deirdre Veldon, editor of Ireland.com, says: "We've been delighted with the popularity of the service in the short time since its introduction. I think it shows the public's appetite for quality up-to-the-minute news from a reliable source. It also displays the changing demands of consumers."
