PRIMOR plc, successor to the former PMPA, under administration, applied in the High Court yesterday for an order dismissing a claim that it is owed £450,000 plus interest to the Private Motorists Provident Society. The money was loaned to motorists by the Private Motorists Provident Society Ltd, in liquidation, to people taking out insurance with the then PMPA.

The Private Motorists Provident Society Ltd is claiming that the money is due to them because they had no power to make the loans. Mr Michael Collins SC for Primor said they were seeking to dismiss the action brought against them on the grounds of inordinate and inexcusable delay.

The hearing of the application continues today.
