THE move to the Dublin market this week by the British-based oil and gas exploration company, Premier Oil, has left analysts in London puzzled. The company, which has long felt misunderstood by City analysts, seems to believe it will fare better on this side of the Irish Sea.
Explaining the move to journalists this week, Premier chief executive Mr Charles Jamieson admitted the company was carrying "a lot of baggage" but was optimistic it would be received well by Irish investors.
Meanwhile, the Margin has learned that Mr Jamieson's predecessor, Mr Roland Shaw, is preparing to address a conference in Britain later this month. His topic? "How I lost £350 million in the exploration game." Heavy baggage...
