QUINNSWORTH managing director Mr Maurice Pratt and Stewarts managing director Mr Malcolm Lynch are to continue in their positions following the £640 million takeover of the Quinnsworth Stewarts Crazy Prices operations by Tesco. The takeover was finally completed last week.
In a statement, Tesco said that Mr Don Tidey would remain with the company as nonexecutive chairman and business consultant. One addition to the board, however, would be Mr David Potts from Tesco, who would have the job of co ordinating the integration of Quinnsworth and Stewarts, backed by a small number of existing staff and staff from Tesco.
In another development, Tesco has appointed Mr Dermot Breen as its director of corporate affairs and communications for Ireland. Mr Breen has been with public relations group Murray Consultants for 11 years and was public relations adviser to Tesco on the Quinnsworth/Stewarts takeover.
Murray Consultants has appointed Mr Declan Kelly as a director. Mr Kelly joined Murray's two years ago, having previously worked with the Cork Examiner.
