THE Norwegian company Norsk Hydro is considering a £15 million investment in the former Peat power project at Geesala, County Mayo. If the plans materialise a new peat based product will be on the market next year, providing 50 full time jobs, and additional part time positions in harvesting and ancillary services. Norsk Hydro has an annual turnover of £6 billion and employs up to 30,000 world wide. A Galway based company Hydro Energie (Ireland) has been formed to get the project started.
