PACKAGING regulations are expected to be made under the Waste Management Act in the next few weeks which will impose stringent new requirements on business and industry, an IBEC seminar heard yesterday.

The new packaging regulations - being brought in after extensive consultations with IBEC - will be based on producer responsibility for packaging waste and are likely to lead to a renewed emphasis on better waste management.
